Launching A Trail of Embers

Today my book A Trail of Embers started its 30-day Kindle Scout campaign. What’s that you ask? Let me tell you about it. Amazon calls it “reader-powered publishing for new, never-published books.” Basically, what that means is: it’s a system of nominations that runs for 30 days. During that time, readers can view the first few chapters of a book and vote for it. At the end of the 30 days, books winning the nominations receive a publishing contract with Amazon.

The nominators receive a free book.

How is that a 52 Over 50 blog post? It is because it means I have to get up off the couch and exercise my brain. I have to learn about social media, Tweeting, Instagram and selling myself on line. Okay, not quite but you can see where I’m going with this. It’s a little outside my comfort zone, I think I’m more of an aw shucks, kind of girl. So much reaching out and networking is a bit intimidating, but I’m finding out it’s kind of fun too. I’m talking to a lot of other writers who have run campaigns and are more than happy to pass on the knowledge that they gained.

I think this is going to be an interesting journey. Check out A Trail of Embers on Kindle Scout, stick around and read a bit. The first couple of chapters are on display. If you like it nominate it and please share the link with your friends.
